Aloysius George "Al"Thummel, 97, of Salina, passed away Saturday, November 19th, at his home.

Al was born in Tipton, KS on June 2, 1914, to the late Susanna (Carl) and Theodore  Thummel.

Al served in the U.S. Army during World War II.  He was a retired farmer, and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Salina.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 42 years, Pauline L. Thummel, and his wife of 12 years, Beulah I. Thummel.

He is survived by his daughters; Susan M. Allen of Mt. Vernon, Arkansas and Shirley (Bill) Hackler of Hutchinson, Kansas; as well as 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, at 10:000 a.m. on Friday, November 25th,  with Fr. Kerry Ninemire officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Beloit.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home.  Family will receive friends from 6-8.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Salina, 730 Holly Ln., Salina, KS 67401; or the American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Rd., Topeka, KS 66604.
