Amanda Melisa LeAnne "Cakes" Yates, 22 formerly of Marquette,
Kansas, died May 27, 2011 in Wichita Kansas.
Amanda was born October 9th, 1988 in Salina, Kansas to Gary
and Amanda (Missie) Yates. She was employed at OutBack Steak
House in Wichita, Kansas, PetCo in Derby, Kansas, and K-9 Morsels
in McPherson, Kansas.
Amanda had a zest for life and she lived life to the fullest.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and absolutely
enjoyed traveling all around, recently returning from Disneyland
and Phoenix, Arizona.
Amanda graduated from Smoky Valley High School, where she was
voted prom princess and captain of her cheerleading team. She then
went on to cheer for Bethany College but later transferred to
Wichita Tech. She recently enrolled for a C.N.A class to be
completed in June and was extremely excited to be accepted for fall
semester at Phoenix Arizona Community College, where she planned on
moving in October.
Amanda loved people, dogs and was the life of all parties. She
truly lived life to the fullest!
She is survived by her parents, Gary and Shelly Yates of Salina,
Kansas; Amanda (Missie) and Bryan Chesbro, of
Marquette, Kansas: her siblings, Emily and Gary Yates and Alex,
Brylly and Nyquole Chesbro all of Marquette, Kansas; grandfather,
Taft Yates; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She is also
survived by her special friend, Aaron Lafitte and her dog, Quigley
"boyfriend".
She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Mary Yates and
Myrna Millison and two cousins, Max Wilson and R.J
Reynolds.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, June 3, 2011
at Carlson Geisendorf Funeral Home. Family will greet friends
from 5-7. Cremation will follow visitation. Memorial
services will be held at 1:30pm Saturday, June 4th, Valley
Community Church 404 N. Washington, Marquette, with Pastor Roy
Rawls officiating. A balloon release will follow the
service.
Family asks that memorials be made to the funeral home to help
expenses or to the Salina Animal Shelter, 329 N. 2nd, Salina,
Kansas 67401.
