Mrs. Ellen L. (Walburn) Bates, 42, of Brookville passed away Friday, February 25th, 2011 at Hospice of Salina.

She was born in Salina on August 7, 1968, the daughter of the late  Harry F. and Karen E. (Keller) Walburn, who survives.

She was a high school graduate and attended some college.  Ellen loved animals and groomed and showed horses and dogs.  On July 8, 1995 she married Troy J. Bates, who survives her.

Ellen is also survived by her sons Gregory J. Walburn of Abilene and Christopher P. Walburn of Salina; sister, Rebecca S. (Alan) McCreary of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother, Harry L. "Charlie" (Tammy) Walburn of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandson, Buster J. Walburn; and granddaughter, Payden K. Walburn.

She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents; and her father, Harry F. Walburn.

A funeral service will be held at the at Trinity United Methodist Church, Salina at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1st,  with Rev. Barry Dundass officiating.  Interment will follow at the Brookville Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call  Monday 11 a.m .- 8 p.m.. at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, with the family present from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to defray funeral expenses and may be sent in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio St., Salina, Kansas 67401.
