Mrs. Helen M. "Rita" Nestler, 80, of New Cambria passed away, Friday, January 14th, 2011 at Smoky Hill Rehabilitation Center in Salina. 

Mrs. Nestler was born in Chanute, Kansas on June 19, 1930, the daughter of the late Edward and Irene (Meagher) Kelley.  At the age of 18 mos., she was adopted and raised by her aunt and uncle Theresa and Alvey Taylor.

Rita graduated high school and attended some college.  She worked in manufacturing at Westinhouse/North American Philips Lighting. She was the wife of Herman C. "Bud" Nestler.  They were married October 17, 1948 in Russell, KS.

Rita is survived by her husband Bud; daughter,  Kerry (Ron) Bowell of Salina; sons,  Larry (Elaine) Nestler of New Cambria, Kelley Nestler of Minneapolis, Kansas., and Rusty (Lisa) Nestler of Salina.; as well as 19 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; half brother, Jim Meagher; and one great grandson, Zane Bowell.

At the family's request there will be no visitation

A memorial service will be  at CrossRoads Church, 1125 W. South, Salina, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 18th,  with Pastor Ron Bowell officiating. Inurnment will be at the Highland Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Salina, 730 Holly Ln., Salina, Kansas 67401.

    I was sadden to hear of your loss and wanted to say my thought's are with you.To this day I still remember the wonderful day's at Sundowner. It was never the same after the family retired and have thought of them many time's.

    Kerry, Larry ,Bud and family. my heart felt tears when I read Rita's name in paper. we had good times gorwing up. our familys were like FAMILY. I am sad for your emptyness. you know I loss mom and dad both a few mounths ago. now our Mom are chatting it up in heavan !!! I bet their talking about us. In my thoughts and prayers .linda
