James Franklin Porter, 82, of Assaria, passed away Friday, September 27th, at Salina Regional Health Center. James was born in Cawthorn, Texas on September 30, 1930,to the late Ida Pearl (Belyeu) and Earl Franklin Porter. James was an automobile mechanic for Ford for forty-two years. He was also a member of the Good Sam's Club. He was the husband of Rosemarie (Nardi) Porter. They were married on May 1, 1970 in Fairfield, California. Survivors include his wife Rosemarie; daughter, Bonita Tillman, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; grand daughter, Christina Tillman, of Scottsdale, Arizona; sister, Mary E. Gilbert, of Mapleton, Oregon; half sister, Elsie Wilkes, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and brother, Wilfred Riley Porter, of Merlin, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents, and half brother, Bill Vantine Cremation has been chosen and at the family's request there will be no visitation A memorial service will be held at Assaria Lutheran Church, Assaria, Kansas, at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1st, with Pastor Brian Bauer officiating. A reception will follow directly after the service at the church.
