Arnold Everett 'Arnie' Geist, 83, of Salina, passed away Monday, April 8th, at the Kaye Pogue Hospice Center. Arnold was born in Plevna, Kansas on December 19, 1929, to the late Pearl (Wyer) and Thomas Geist. He was a graduate of Plevna High School. Arnie then served a year in the Kansas National Guard at Larned, Kansas, before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He served four years in the Air Force in France and Germany. Arnie was a member of Salina VFW Post #1432, American Legion Post #62, and the First Baptist Church of Salina. Arnold is survived by his wife, Linda (Hall) Geist, to whom he married on November 9, 1958 in Russell, Kansas. Other survivors also include son, David Geist, and wife of Terri, of Fort Worth, Texas; sisters, Eula Geist-Kittle of Liberal, Kansas, Jean Geist-Baker and husband Jim of Buhler, Kansas; grandson, Thomas Geist of Fort Worth, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Wreatha Geist-Blasdell and Evelyn Geist-Walker, and brothers, Virgil and Edward Geist. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 10 from 9 am - 8 pm at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home with the family present on from 6 pm - 8 pm at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, April 11th at First Baptist Church, Salina, Kansas, with Pastor Kevin Hazelton officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Hutchinson, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Salina 730 Holly Lane, Box 2238, Salina, Kansas or First Baptist Church, 843 Lewis, Salina, Kansas.
