Barbara B.
Anderson
Feb 7, 1933 — Oct 20, 2026
Salina
Barbara B. (Adams) Anderson, was born on February 7, 1933, in Herington, Kansas, and passed away on October 20, 2026, after a brief illness. Barb's life was a testament to love, resilience, and stubbornness, qualities she carried with her to her final moments.
Born to Thomas Adams and Laura Miller Adams, Barbara was the firstborn of their beloved children. After graduating from Salina High School in 1951, Barb
married Robert J. "Bob" Anderson on April 6, 1952. Their marriage of over six decades, was filled with love, until Bob's passing in 2013.
Barb worked for many years as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell and, after the company left Salina, she was the receptionist at Great Plains Federal Credit Union, until her retirement.
Barb was a wonderful mother and a proud grandmother who was always ready for a game of Bingo, a trip to a casino, and an occasional Margarita.
She is survived by her children Becky (Gary) Harper and Cindy (Mark) Challans, her grandchildren Josh & Andy Harper, Marissa (Spencer) Foster, Daniel (Kelsey) Challans, and Lacey Fischer, along with her siblings Lynda (Steve) Welborn and Marilyn (George) Laddish. Her legacy of love continues to flourish through her great-grandchildren, who will carry her spirit forward.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, Claudine Adams, her beloved husband Bob, her brothers Garry Adams and Loren Miller, her granddaughter Caley Challans Wilson, and her infant great-granddaughter, Carli Harper. Each loss was a profound heartache, yet she faced these challenges with the grace and strength that defined her life.
Barb's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, yet her spirit lives on in the love and memories she shared. Her family and friends will forever cherish her unwavering support, sense of humor, and her love.
Her family would like to thank Dr. Sean Herrington and the ER staff at SRHC, along with Dr. Katrina Siemiesz, the nurses, and the entire staff on the 3rd floor SE, in addition to all the First Responders. Thank you, too, to all of the staff at Reflection's Retirement Resort. Everyone's kindness and compassion are very much appreciated.
Barb's wishes were to be cremated and she did not want any services.
