Barbara "Barb" Jean Thayer

Barbara Jean "Barb" Thayer, 77, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025.

Born on April 8, 1948, in Ionia, Michigan, Barb was the beloved daughter of the late Mary (Cummings) Lewis and Charles Lance.

She is lovingly survived by her children: Julie Sherwood (John) of Spokane, Washington; Kathy Jo Hernandez (Humberto) of Salina, Kansas; and Ricky Laney of Salina, Kansas. She also leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren—Andrea, Charles, Madeline, Harrison, Derek, Slade, Brittany, Augustus, Zachary, Timothy, Amilio, and Miguel—along with 15 great-grandchildren who brought joy to her life. Her sister, Rosie Snyder of Ionia, Michigan, also mourns her passing.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Hope Greenwood, her sisters, Ruth, Valerie, and Linda, and her brother, Charles.

Honoring her wishes, Barb will be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date, where family and friends can gather to share memories and honor her legacy.
