Benjamin Clair Brubaker, 92, of Salina, passed away Monday, March 16th, at Salina Regional Health Center. Benjamin was born in Ellsworth, Kansas on May 18, 1922, a son of the late Esther N. (Anderson) and Harry Benjamin Brubaker. Benjamin served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked in heavy construction as a mill right for many years until he was hired by the City of Salina in maintenance, from which he retired. He was a member of the VFW #6485 for 65 years in Ellsworth, the Masonic Lodge Salina and Ellsworth, the Royal Arch Masons, the York Rite Masons, and the Knights Templar. Benjamin was also a member of Sunrise Presbyterian Church. Benjamin also enjoyed the hobbies of bee keeping and playing the accordian. Additionally, he always had a great fondness for trains and the railroad. Benjamin was the widower of Elaine Irene (Rhodes) Brubaker. Survivors include a daughter, Kitty Balnis, of Salina, Kansas; sons,Steven Brubaker, of Ellsworth, Kansas, Dewaine Brubaker, of Dallas, Texas; brother, Louis Brubaker of Bavaria, Kansas; two grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elaine; brother,Harry Theodore Brubaker; daughter, Gracie Manion and special friend, Agnes McGilvrey. Visitation will be held on at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home in Salina from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, with family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the at Sunrise Presbyterian Church in Salina at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, with Rev. Martha Murchison officiating. Burial will be held at Ellsworth City Cemetery in Ellsworth, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ellsworth Masonic Lodge #146, P.O. Box 351, Ellsworth, KS 67439, or to the Ellsworth VFW Post #6485, 109 E. Main, Ellsworth, KS 67439.
