Benjamin J. 'Ben' Frick Benjamin Jacob 'Ben' Frick, 79, of Salina, passed away Friday, September 11th, at SRHC, surrounded by his beloved family. Ben was born in Salina, Kansas on August 10, 1936, a son of the late Marie (Nelson) and Lester Frick. He graduated from Salina High in 1954. He was a member of University United Methodist Church in Salina. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Amy LaVelle (Rodgers) Frick; daughters, Janie Marie Frick, of Salina, Kansas, and Mechelle Fuller and husband Mike, of Salina; brother, Norman Frick, of Moore, Oklahoma; sister, Shirley Reissig and husband Raymond , of Lindsborg, Kansas; as well as eight grandchildren, Amy, Curtis, Diane, Nyki, Jacob, Joel, Andrew, and Mallory; 11 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. Ben is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Elane Marie Graham, and daughter, Suzanne LaVelle Frick Vanderford. He was a community activist, would-be politician, licensed master HVAC, and General Contractor. He was also a master Stonemason and loved to cook in his several restaurants. He and his companies built many notable structures here and in surrounding states, including the Peters Science Hall at KWU and the Salina Police Station/Jail. He enjoyed activities with his family and was happy operating big construction machines like cranes, graders, loaders, backhoes, and others. He also enjoyed puttering around his farm where he had a few cattle and other farm animals. Memorial services will be at University United Methodist Church, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19th. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Tammy Walker Cancer Center, 511 S. Santa Fe., Salina, Kansas; or to the University United Methodist Church, 1509 S. Santa Fe, Salina, Kansas.
