Bernice J. Chumley

Bernice J Chumley, 90, of Lindsborg, passed away Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011 at Bethany Home in Lindsborg. Mrs. Chumley was born in Garyfield Township, Kansas on April 26, 1920, the daughter of the late William H and Marjorie (Wilson) Silver. She graduated from Washington High School. Bernice was the widow of Lloyd B Chumley. They were married on November 22, 1942 at Grace Baptist Church in Washington D.C. Bernice was married for 58 yrs to 'Brick' before his death in 2001. She worked as a sales clerk Lee Hardware in Salina, and also worked in the credit department at Sears. Bernice was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Salina for many years and was very involved in church activities. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, husband; a sister; and three brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Shanan K Schultz; son, Lloyd L. Chumley; sister, Johnette Drake; grandson, Shane Schultz; and granddaughter in law, Olympia Schultz. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the Ray Avenue Baptist Church, with Pastor John Day officiating. Burial will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery.
