Charles Robert Wood

Charles Robert Wood, 86, of Salina, passed away Tuesday, September 1st. Charles was born in Solomon, Kansas on February 2, 1929, to the late Amanda Experience (Rice) and Harvey A. Wood, Sr. He worked as a farmer and stockman in the Abilene area. What he missed most about retirement, were the cattle. He was the husband of Betty J. (Denney) Wood for 66 years, married on June 4, 1949 in Solomon, Kansas. Survivors include his daughters, Vickie Tangeman and husband Dave, of Salina, Dianne Pyke and husband Dale, of Springfield, Missouri; son, Doug Wood, of Benedict, Nebraska; sisters, Betty Butler of Salina, Kansas, Ruth Bernard of Cedar Falls, Iowa; brother, Harvey Wood, Jr. and wife Pat of Solomon, Kansas; as well as grandchildren, Toby (Gretchen) Wood of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Amanda (Matt) Bayless and Christopher Pyke, both of Springfield, Missouri, Brian (Krystal) Tangeman of Topeka, Kansas, Leslie (Robb) Beeson of Morrisville, North Carolina, David McDaniel of Salina; and great grandchildren, Hailey Wood and Shelby Wood, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Chloe Tangeman and Zachary Tangeman, both of Topeka, Kansas, and MiKayla Beeson of Apex, North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Linda McDaniel; sisters, Dorothy Hull and Elsie Napier; brothers, Clyde 'Buster' Wood and Raymond Wood; and grandson, Brent Tangeman. Friends are invited to call on Thursday, September 3, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Carlson - Geisendorf Funeral Home. The family will be present from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4th, with Rev. Jon M. Fillipi officiating.
