Chester Shaw, 76, of Solomon, Kansas, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016. Chester was born in Salem, Nebraska on January 11, 1940, a son of the late Erma (Chandler) and Roy B. Shaw, Sr. Chet was a truck driver at Love Box Co. for 20 years, and Graves Trucking, Adm Milling, Super Sweet Feeds, and the State Highway Commission throughout his life. On May 22, 1960, Chet married Lois (Slaight) Shaw in Ellsworth, Kansas. Chet was in the United States Air Force for four years, stationed at Schilling Air Force Base from 1958 - 1962. Survivors include his wife Lois of the home; two daughters, Kim Frederking, and husband Tim, of Salina, Kansas, Karma Black and husband Jeff, of Abilene, Kansas; son, Kurtis Shaw, and wife Tammy of Hillsboro, Kansas; sister, Joyce VanMeter, of Olathe, Kansas. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Heather Mettlen, Kurtis Shaw, Chester James Shaw, Kaleb Black, KaeLeigh Black, Keaton Black, Wesley Shaw; four great grandchildren, Kelsey Shaw, Wyatt Mettlen, Hattie Mettlen, Madelyn Shaw; 2 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by sisters, Bertha and Loretta; brothers, Lester, Marvin, and Roy B. Jr.; granddaughter, Killey Shaw. Celebration of life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 19, at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina, Kansas, with Buddy Aldridge officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Salina 730 Holly Lane, Box 2238 Salina, Kansas 67401 or Hope Lodge 1120 Pennsylvania Ave, Kansas City, MO 64105.
