Donald Alfred Engelhardt Donald Alfred Engelhardt, 90, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Friday, April 6th, at Salina Regional Health Center. Donald was born in Saronville, Nebraska on November 8, 1921, son of the late Sarah (Ross) and Alfred Engelhardt. He graduated from the National School of Electronics and the Naval Research Lab. Served with the USNR from 1942 - 1945. He began his carreer in radio in 1946 at KSAL and retiring as chief engineer after over 55 years. Also aided in launching KYEZ in 1975. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Kansas Broadcasting Association (50 year award),W0QDH Amateur Radio License, Salina Coin Club, Quail Unlimited, and the National Rifle Association. He was also a longtime attendee of Salina Bible Church, Salina, Kansas. He is preceded in death by his wife, Selma Elizabeth (Adams) Engelhardt and his daughter, Janice Luken. Survivors include two daughters, Judy Roberts (Kenneth), of Lewiston, Idaho, Juanita Miles (Roger), of Salina, Kansas; son, Jerry Engelhardt (Kathy), of Gresham, Oregon; two sisters, Elvina Boyer of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, Twila Manchee of Stow, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren. Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, April 10th from 9 am - 8 pm with family present from 6 pm - 8 pm at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, April 11th, at First Covenant Church, Salina, Kansas, with Pastor Rodney Fox and Pastor Doug McHenry officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Salina, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
