Dorothy Mae (Brown) Ecton, 85, of Salina, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at Salina Regional Health Center with her family present. Dorothy was born Sept. 30, 1930, in Norton, to Orville and Hazel Brown. She married Howard Lee Ecton in January 1949 and they shared 67 years of marriage together. They enjoyed traveling and visited 47 states, Canada, and Mexico. She had several hobbies including quilting and crocheting, time with her family, cooking, and playing cards. She will be remembered for her kindness to others and love for her family. Dorothy's surviving family includes her husband, Howard Ecton, of Salina; son, Steve Ecton and his wife Sharon, of McAllen, Texas; daughter-in-law, Mary Ecton, of Salina; brother, Al Brown and his wife Clara, of San Jose, Calif.; brother-in-law, Leonard Ecton and his wife Billie, of Solomon; six granddaughters and their spouses, Layla and Lyn Peppers, of Salina, Jennifer and Doug Mead, of Lee's Summit, Mo., Stephanie Zambrano and Stan Hernandez, of Mission, Texas, Aimee Ecton, of McAllen, Texas, Julie Ecton, of Salina, and Lana and Phillip Bustamante, of Garden City; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ellen (Brown) Rice; son, Alan Ecton; and daughter, Connie Reeve. Dorothy was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church of Salina, and her funeral service will be there at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 8. She will be cremated and a graveside memorial service will occur at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Salina Rescue Mission.
