Dorothy May Reed

Dorothy May Reed, 93, of Plainville, Kansas, passed away Friday, October 12th, 2018. Dorothy was born in Salina, Kansas on December 3, 1924, a daughter of the late Alta May (Green) and JC Reed. Dorothy graduated from KSU in 1946, attended Marymount College for 2 years, and 1 year at Wheaton College, Illinois. She worked for Beech Aircraft for 20 years, retiring in 1988. She gave 148 pints of blood to the Red Cross, was a volunteer driver for RSVP for several years, was a volunteer at Salina Senior Center for several years and sang in Bethany Messiah Oratorio Society for 45 years. Dorothy was also a charter member of Village Bible Church, where she was still an active member until she moved to Plainville. Survivors include her lifelong friend, Elsie Richmond, of Plainville, Kansas and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her sister, Esther E. Reed; brothers, Ernest W. Reed, John R. Reed; and sisters in law; Virginia and Velma. Visitation will be Friday, October 19, from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm and Saturday, October 20, from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm at Carlson - Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 20th at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina, Kansas, with Pastor JJ Sexton officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Salina, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Village Bible Church or Salina Senior Center in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio, Salina, Kansas 67401.
