Douglas Neil Holloway

Douglas Neil Holloway, 89, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2025.

Douglas was born in Alton, Kansas, on March 10, 1936, to Cristena Weber and Donald Holloway. A lifelong learner and educator, Douglas graduated from college and began his career as a teacher and coach, sharing his love of sports with generations of students. A former college basketball player himself, he found great joy in mentoring young athletes and watching them grow both on and off the court.

Later in life, Douglas served as a postmaster, a role he embraced with dedication and pride. He loved delivering mail in all seasons—rain or shine—and took great satisfaction in serving his community.

In June of 1958, Douglas married the love of his life, Janet Darnell Holloway. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared passions—including many cherished days spent golfing side by side. Janet and Doug also took many bus tours, traveling all over and enjoying each others company.

Douglas is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Janet; and their four sons: Tobin Holloway (Renate), Jere Holloway, Sam Holloway (Rena), and Dave Holloway (Jacque). He also leaves behind a legacy of love in his grandchildren—Madeline, Elliot, Samuel, Megan, Jalen, Emilee, Teryn, Jacob, Alyson, and Trey—and great-grandchildren—Sebastian, Liam, Logan, Junior, and Alcee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings, Billy Don Holloway, Bonnie Noel, and Suzie Walters.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Salina, Kansas at 11:00 AM Monday, July 7, 2025.
