Earl LeRoy Copeland Earl LeRoy Copeland, 82, Salina, KS died on Tuesday, December 28th, 2010 at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, Kansas. Earl was born at the family farm at Sparks, Nebraska on April 13, 1928, the son of the late John Frederick and Clara Ethel (Ogle) Copeland. He worked as a Carpenter, Painter, Farmer and Handyman. In his later years, he worked as a Lawnmower Repairman. Earl was a SSG in the United States Army during the Korean war in the 45th Division. Survivors include his wife Bonny (Osburn) Copeland of the home, daughters: LaFawn Matney and husband Troy of Abilene, Kansas, Mayda Zimmerman and husband Jim of Gering, Nebraska, Anita Wiechman and husband Danny of Salina, Kansas, Dixie Copeland-Carker and husband Rick of Topeka, Kansas; Sons: Travis Copeland of Salina, KS., Justin Copeland of Lincoln, KS.; Sister: Sylvia Sharp of Valentine, Nebraska; Brother: Darrel Copeland and wife Irma of Salina, Kansas. He is also survived by 9 Grandchildren: Jim Matney, Lana Anderson, Jeff Zimmerman, Josh Zimmerman, Megan Rood, Sam Wiechman, Eli Wiechman, Hannah Wiechman, Kayla Briggs; 5 Great Grandchildren: Kylie Matney, Jacob Matney, Jaycee Bolen, Arielle Rood, Addison Rood. He is preceded in death by 5 Sisters: Ruby, Esther, Mary Ellen, Anna, Zelma; 2 brothers: John and Clifford. At the family's request there will be no visitation A memorial service will be held at the Church of Christ, Salina, Kansas, at 10:00 am on Friday, December 31st, with Pastor Bruce Dimick and Pastor Wayne Dewitt officiating. Graveside Service and Inurnment will be in Sparks Cemetery at Sparks, Nebraska on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 1:00 pm The family requests donations be made to Hospice of Salina 730 Holly Lane, Box 2238 Salina, Kansas or Bethany Home 321 N. Chestnut St. Lindsborg, Kansas 67456.
