Eugene J. Rogers “Geno”, 82, of Abilene, passed away August 9th. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 22, 1936 to the late John and Grace (Dixon) Rogers. At age 19, he joined the United States Army. He served in the Vietnam and Korean Wars, and spent many years in Germany. He retired from the army after 30 years. Geno spent many years in the Army Reserves. He also worked at the Eisenhower Center in Abilene for 10 years. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Patricia; children, Tina Davis (Bob) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Steffi Coole and Isabell Nguyen of Salina, Angie Wiseley (Luke) of Colorado, Michael Rogers (Vera) of Overland Park, Kansas, and Steven Rogers of Salina; and step-children, Rod Paulson (Sandy) of Abilene, Dan Paulson (Kathy) of Salina, and Bruce Paulson (Verna) of Tigard, Oregon. He is also survived by two sisters, Patricia Hanson of Illinois, and Linda Luebke of Texas; 12 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. Graveside service will take place at a later date.
