Florence May Forkner Florence May Forkner, 95, of Salina, Kansas passed away February 14, 2014 at Windsor Estates. Florence was born in Salina, Kansas on May 28, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Jacob and Mabel Estella (Andrews) Gruber. She worked a variety of jobs during her long life and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church Salina, Kansas. She was the widow of George W. Forkner. They were married on September 21, 1947 in Salina at the St. Johns Lutheran Church. Survivors include Daughter, Georgia Hood, of Mt. Vernon, Washington; Daughter-in-law, Chris Taylor of Salina, Kansas; 3 Grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 12 Great-Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Jane Abbott of Salina, and Dorothy Kizer of Lawrence, Kansas, Josephine Brown of New Cambria, Kansas, Leola Gruber of Minneapolis, Kansas. She is also preceded in death by her son, Richard 'Rick' H. Taylor; daughter, Florence Bell Farrell; Son, John Forkner; Grandsons, Kevin Taylor and Mark Taylor; sisters, Mary Sink and Marie Thompson; brother, Raymond Gruber; brothers-in-law, Mellroy Abbott, Jim Kizer, Jack Thompson, Jeff Sink, George K. Brown, great grandson, Michael P. Burk; Great Great Granddaughter, Shyan Burke Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 pm, Tuesday, February, 18, 2014, at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina, Kansas. with Chaplain Tim Maguffe officiating. Inurnment will be held at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Windsor Estates or Hospice of Salina, in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio Salina, Kansas 67401.
