Freda Jean Nye, 92, of Salina, Kansas passed away Thursday, May 24th. Mrs. Nye was born in Clay Center, Kansas on November 13, 1925, a daughter of the late Earl Stanley and Frederika Amelia (Wofford) Craig. She was retired as a legal secretary. She worked for Kennedy, Berkley, Simpson & Yarnevich in Salina for 19 years. She also worked for Crane, Martin, Claussen & Ashworth in Topeka, attorneys Hal Shepard and Frank D. Oberg of Clay Center, and for Probate Judge Oscar Peterson, also of Clay Center. Freda was an active member of the First Covenant Church in Salina, and was a member and past president of the Salina Legal Secretaries Association. She was the wife of Orville Edward Nye. They were married on November 17, 1955 in Clay Center. He preceded her in death. Survivors include cousin, Varney (Mary) Craig of Stevensville, Montana; cousin-in-law William Nye of Eudora, Kansas; and close friend Mike Fabrizius of Salina, Kansas. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 30th at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home with pastor Doug McHenry officiating. Private burial will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Covenant Church, sent in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio Street, Salina, Kansas.
