Frederick 'Rick' W. Fink, 67, of Lindsborg, Kansas, passed away Saturday, March 5th, at Lindsborg Community Hospital, Lindsborg, Kansas. Rick was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on October 13, 1948, a son of the late Muriel H. (Ehling) and Ernest J. Fink, Jr. He was the youngest of their two sons. His brother was Ernest J. Fink III. In 1966, he came to Kansas and attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. He majored in History and Political Science, and was a member of Alpha Sigma Nu Fraternity. He graduated in 1970, and returned to New Jersey. At that time, he was awarded with a complete one year scholarship to Tobe Colburn School on Madison Ave, NYC. He graduated with a degree in Promotion and Merchandising. He then worked for Sound Design Corporation. Rick decided to move back to Lindsborg. In the following years, he worked for Columbia Industries, Central Plastica, McPherson, and Butler County Community College as Assistant Director in the Flint Hills. He later graduated from Wichita State University with a Master's Degree in Sociology in 1995. Rick was working at Solution Outreach Center in Salina, Kansas as a Technology Specialist until he retired in 2010. He was a member of Freemount Lutheran Church, Lindsborg, Kansas. Survivors include his brother, Ernest Fink III and his wife Connie, and their children, Ernest Fink IV (Jodi), Rudy Fink (Jill), Suzanne Stermer (Denis), Stephanie Jerauld (Eldon), Shannon Schmidt (Dick). He is also survived by a host of family members and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held April 2nd at 11:00 am, at Freemount Lutheran Church, Lindsborg, Kansas. Inurnment will follow at Freemount Lutheran Cemetery. At the family's request there will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rick Fink Cancer Fund in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio, Salina, Kansas 67401. This fund helps individuals with cancer at the Lindsborg Community Hospital.
