Gerold "Jerry" Rice

Gerold L. 'Jerry' Rice Gerold L. 'Jerry' Rice, 77, of Salina, passed away Wednesday, March 21st., at the Salina Regional Health Center. Jerry was born in Salina, on July 20, 1934, the son of Althea O. (Crawford) Rice and the late Dean Watson Rice. Jerry attanded Lowell Grade School, Roosevelt High School in Salina and graduated from Marysville High School in Marysville, Kansas. Jerry was in the US Navy during the Korean War and Vietnam War where he was a pipe fitter. After leaving the Navy he worked as a plumber in California until moving back to Salina. Jerry is survived by his mother Alethea Rice of Salina; a sister Joan Sullivan and husband J. R. of Niles; a brother Bob Nickel of California.; 6 children, 12 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Dean Rice. At the family's request there will be no visitation as cremation was chosen. A graveside memorial services will be at 11:00am, Monday, March 26th at the Abilene City Cemetery.
