Gladys Lucille Gilder

Gladys Lucille Gilder, 74, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2026.

Gladys was born December 23, 1951, in Alamosa, Colorado, to Susie Marie (Navarrette) Simmons and John B. Simmons.

She worked as a cashier at Walmart for 20 years, where she truly enjoyed talking with and helping people. In her free time, Gladys cherished being with her granddaughter and spending time with her family. She was also an avid Elvis Presley fan.

Gladys was the beloved wife of the late Stuart Alan Gilder. They were married for nearly 50 years before his passing. She was very proud of his service in the United States Navy.

Survivors include her two sons, Stuart Gilder II, of Salina, Kansas, and Travis Gilder (Amanda), of Salina, Kansas; her sister, Juanita Cook (Michael); her brother, John Simmons, of Salina, Kansas; and her godmother, Francis Zaragoza, of New Mexico, who is 102 years old. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Joslynn Gilder, and many other loving family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stuart; her brother, Frank Simmons; and her grandparents, Celedonio and Rosemary Navarrette.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home in Salina, Kansas. A rosary will start at 6:30 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 10, at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Salina, Kansas. Gladys will be cremated after the service in accordance to her wishes.

The family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home.
