Smolan, Kansas Howard Parker, Jr. Howard Parker, Jr., 68, of Smolan, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, March 2nd, at Salina Regional Health Center. Howard was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 29, 1947, to Refregee Parker and the late Inez (Peden) Parker. He grew up in Gary, Indiana and graduated from Tolleston High School in 1967. Howard was a career soldier in the United States Army. He was also a gifted musician and vocalist who was able to play many instruments, specializing in piano. He played in several bands over the years in the Salina area. Survivors include his father; daughters, Michelle Mitchell and her husband Anthony, of Anna, Texas; and Andrianna Bryant, of Gary, Indiana; brother, Steven Parker, of Gary, Indiana; sisters, Karen Nolan, of Highland, Indiana, and Rosalyn Whitfield, of Merrillville, Indiana; as well as grandchildren, Rio Bryant, Terry Mitchell, Gabrielle Mitchell, Austin Mitchell, and Caleb Mitchell. Howard is preceded in death by his mother, and sister, Diane Parker. Cremation has been chosen and there will not be visitation. Memorial services will be at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 7th. Memorial contributions may be made in Howard's name to the Salina Animal Shelter, 329 N. 2nd, Salina, Kansas 67401.
