James 'J. R.' Sullivan was born May 27, 1930, to Ralph and Naomi (Evans) Sullivan. He passed away August 27, 2015. He continues his journey to meet loved ones who have gone before him. His mother and father, brothers, Leo and Mike, his son Rock, and his granddaughter Rachelle. Jim grew up in Niles and raised his six children there as well. Farming and Ranching was a joy to him in spite of the hard work. He also worked as an Animal Health Inspector for the USDA Veterinary Services for 28 years. Hunting, fishing, and trapshooting were some of his favorite fun filled exciting hobbies. Jim is survived by his wife, of 62 years, Joan; children, Roxane Russell, Russell Sullivan and his fianc Linda Blackwell, Renee Donaldson, Richard and his wife Karrie Sullivan, and Ronald Sullivan; as well as 13 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Jim always gave encouragement and hope to family and friends. He will be remembered by those who knew him for his kindness, generosity, unconditional love, and his deep abiding faith in God. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 30 from 1:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Carlson - Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio, Salina, Kansas. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Solomon, Kansas, at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 31st, with Fr. John Wolesky officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Hilltop Trap Park, c/o George Dresie, 725 E. Frisbie Way, Salina, Kansas 67401 or to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Solomon, Kansas.
