James Glen “Jimmy Mac” McDaniel, 80, of Abilene, Kansas, passed away Friday, March 13, 2026.

Jimmy Mac was born on May 26, 1945, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Bessie May (Brown) McDaniel and James O. McDaniel.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, Jimmy Mac worked for more than 40 years as a truck driver. He later retired as a forklift technician, a career through which he met many of his closest friends while working in the Denver area.

Throughout his life, Jimmy Mac was known for his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. He owned and operated a nightclub and a construction company and was always busy, rarely sitting still. He was also a longtime member of Good Sam Club.

In his free time, Jimmy Mac and his wife, Janet, loved spending time at Marion Lake, which they considered their second home. Together they traveled extensively in their motorhome, enjoying the journey and each other’s company.

James is survived by his loving wife, Janet McDaniel; three daughters, Jennifer McDaniel-Campbell (Michael), Kimberly Moravec (Stephen), and Terri Cummins (Chad); and one brother, Bob McDaniel. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial gathering will be held at a later date and announced by the family.
