James Pickering James 'Jim' Pickering, 82, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Monday, May 7th, at his residence. James was born in Rural Saline County, Kansas on April 16, 1930, son of the late Nora (Borst) and Benjamin Pickering. He worked as a Telephone Technician at SW Bell and AT&T. James was a member of the VFW Salina Post #1432 and Telephone Pioneers of America. James is survived by his companion, Esther Scott of Salina; daughter, Brenda Copp and husband David, of Salina; a son, Brian Pickering and wife Cheryl, of Salina; grandsons, Curtis Pickering and wife Andrea of Salina, Benjamin Pickering of Salina; granddaughter, April Saskowski and husband Kyle of Salina; as well as great grandchildren, Bailey, Payten, Easton, Talan, Mara, and Gavin. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, LaDonna; sons, Brad Pickering and Alan Pickering; brother, Richard Pickering; and sisters, Nona Smith and Betty Smith. A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2012. Inurnment will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery in Salina. No visitation will be held as the body was cremated. Memorial contributions may be to Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home to benefit the great grandchildren, Salina, Kansas.
