Joan Mitchell, 80, of Salina, passed away Friday, July 26th, at Salina Regional Health Center. Joan was born in Atoka, OK on March 8, 1933, to the late Viola (Erie) and Horace Heartsill. She worked at Jostens American Yearbook in Topeka for over 25 years until her retirement. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Joan was the widow of Otto Mitchell. Joan is survived by daughters, LaDonna Carr, of Salina, and LaVonna Bassler, of Perry, sons Jeff Mitchell, of Salina, and Greg Mitchell, of Munden; as well as, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, husband Otto Mitchell in 1987; sister, Cleota Swinney, brother, Jack Heartsill; and granddaughter, Tabitha Cooley. There will be a short memorial service at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home. Interment will be at Westlawn Cemetery in Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud, Salina, KS 67401.
