Joy L. Martin, 98, of Salina, passed away Friday, May 1, 2015. Joy was born in Rural Saline County, on April 11, 1917, to the late Madge (Patrick) and Willis W. Prewett. Joy was a housekeeper for Kansas Wesleyan University. Following that she was the housekeeper for the Bishop of Salina, Cyril J. Vogel. Joy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral. She belonged to the Cathedral Guild and the Catholic Business and Professional Women. She was the widow of Walter L. Martin. Spouse passed away November 14, 1966. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret (Robert) Hankins, Jr., of Hiawatha, Kansas; granddaughter, Andrea (James) Marxen, of Midlothian, Virginia; grandsons, Michael Hankins, of St. Louis, Missouri, Max (Chona) Hankins, of Gales Ferry, Connecticut, and Mark (Jennifer) Hankins, of Mulvane, Kansas; as well as 10 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter; brothers, Willis and Frank; and sisters, M. Alice and Gay L. Martin, her twin. Visitation will be at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Wednesday, May 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, with Monsignor James Hake, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 8360 32nd Ct.
