Kenneth Grant Shirey, Sr., 84, of Bennington, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 23rd. Kenneth was born in Butler, Pennsylvania on June 22, 1934, a son of the late Dorothy (Thomas) and Clarence Shirey. Mr. Shirey served in the US Air Force. After leaving the service, he worked as a Tool and Die Setter for about 30 years at Robert's Industry, Federal Mogul, and Rema Bakeware. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; sons, Kenneth Shirey Jr. of Salina, Nuel Shirey (Crystal) of Salina, and Jack Shirey (Stacy Morgan) of Blackwell, Oklahoma; a daughter, Kimberly Stanley (Russell) of Beverly; sister, Marlene Hengeli of Akron, Ohio; and brother Bruce Shirey of Council, Idaho. He is also survived by grandchildren, Angie, Jennifer, Jeremiah, Lindsay, Logan, Lanee, and Sarah; 14 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by brothers, Jack Shirey, and David Shirey. Visitation will be Thursday, September 27th from 1:00 to 8:00 PM at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be Friday, September 28th at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Danny Sartain officiating. Cremation will take place after the service. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or Wounded Warriors, sent in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio Street, Salina.
