Kenneth L. Peterson, 87, of Salina, passed away February 12, 2014. He was born December 23, 1926, in Salina, to Vincent E. and Hildur (Lindstrom) Peterson. Kenneth was a lifelong resident of Salina, graduated from Salina High School in 1944, and married Emy Lou Burkholder on August 7, 1947. Prior to retirement, Kenneth was co-owner of Memorial Art Company, which was founded by his father, V.E. Peterson, in 1928. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Emy Lou; son, Lynn, and wife, Paula, of Abilene, Kansas; daughter, Carolyn Gregg, and husband Reggie, of Adrian, Missouri; In addition, survivors include seven grandchildren: Andrea (Kyle) McCook, of Solomon, Kansas, Bethany Peterson, of Tororo, Uganda, Carrie Gregg, Christopher Gregg, Amy (Andrew) Thompson, Aaron Gregg, and Levi Gregg, all of the Kansas City area; as well as great-grandchildren, Kilynne, Myah, and Asher McCook, of Solomon, Kansas. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, February 16, at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 17, at Salina Bible Church, 2100 Quincy St. Interment will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Smile Africa, New Tribes Mission, Calvary Bible College or the charity of the donor's choice.
