Leona H. Mutschler

Leona Hattie Mutschler (Anschutz), age 94, died on December 12, 2023 at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community, Manhattan, Kansas.

Leona was born on February 7, 1929 to William Frederick and Hattie Joanna Amanda Anschutz (Schepmann), on the family farm near Wilson, Kansas (Russell County).  She had ten siblings

Leona married Richard Herbert Mutschler on June 5, 1949 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ellsworth, Kansas. Four children, Eugene, Elaine Marie, Paul David, and Harold Dean, were born into this union.  Richard and Leona were married for over 70 years. They lived most of their life on a farm on Whitmore Rd, Gypsum. Leona was a homemaker.

Leona was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Glenn, Kenneth, Dale, John, Carl and Wilbur and sisters, Vera and Leora; sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, son-in-law, daughters-in-law and grandson.

Survivors include son, Don Mutschler, Minneapolis; daughter, Elaine Riedl, Brighton Colorado; son, Paul, Delphos; and son, Harold (Glenda), Gypsum; many grandchildren, great and great -great grandchildren. Her sisters; Wilmetta (Billie) McDonald, Topeka, and Maydene (Betty) LeRoy. Also, a brother-in-law, and sisters-in-law, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and many friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 702 N Ninth St., Salina.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 21, 2023 at the church with Pastor Dennis Kootz officiating.

Interment will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery, on Farrelly Road, Kipp following the service.

The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Meadowlark Hills and especially to granddaughter, Megan Chase, for her loving care, kindness, and compassion.

Memorials to be given to The Lutheran Hour Ministries or Trinity Lutheran Church 702 S. Ninth St, Salina or to a charity of your own choice.
