Leonard Duane Cyre

Leonard Duane Cyre, 37, of Salina, passed away Sunday, December 9th, 2012. Leonard was born in Charlottesville, Virginia on July 11, 1975, son of James Cyre and the late Sheila (Wake) Cyre. He was a 19 year member of the Kansas Army National Guard. Leonard served three tours of duty in Iraq, where he earned the bronze star. On August 12, 2000, Leonard married Erica Burkhart at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Salina, Kansas. Leonard is survived by his wife, Erica; daughter, Ava J. Cyre, of Salina, Kansas; son, Kade T. Cyre, of Salina, Kansas; father, James Cyre of Salina, Kansas; grandmother, Leta Wake of Sheridan, Missouri; sister, Annette Wanger and husband Paul of Wichita, Kansas; 4 nephews, 2 nieces, several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother. Leonard will be remembered by all who knew him as loving son, husband, father, brother, and uncle. Friends are invited to call Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Carlson - Geisendorf Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, Thursday, December 13th, with Chaplain John Potter officiating. Burial will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Ft. Riley in Manhattan, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leonard Cyre Memorial Fund in care of Central National Bank.
