Lila Leslie

Lila Leslie, 81, of Salina, Kansas passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Hospice of Salina. Leslie was born on June 22, 1931 to the late Ed Luthi and Esther (Allison) Nichols. She was born at home in Wells, Kansas, growing up and attending school in Chapman. Lila created many childhood memories in the Chapman, Abilene and Junction City area. She also spent a couple years living in Austin, Texas. Growing up she had a passion for planting flowers and loved house plants. During her lifetime she created numerous needle point quilts and several heirloom pieces. She was very talented in sewing making 3 of the 4 daughters wedding gowns. She loved to cook and spend time with her dogs. She worked in heathcare at the Geary Community Hospital as a nurse. She also worked for Dr. Margaret Clark in Lawrence, Dr. Mace and Dr. Wright in Junction City. She also worked as a telephone receptionist at Asbury Hospital which is now Salina Regional Health Center. She was united in marriage in 1973 to James Leslie in Eudora, Kansas. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years James Leslie of Salina, Kansas. She is also survived by 3 daughters Donita Walton and husband Harry of Moore, Oklahoma, Janetta Smith and husband Jerry of Assaria, Kansas, and Maxine Rogers and husband Eddie of Salina, Kansas. She is also survived by two sisters Mary Jane Dauter of Spokane, Washington and Pat Kosanke of Belleview, Washington, and one brother, Doug Luthi and wife Barb of Tacoma, Washington. Also surviving her is a sister-in-law Jean Moore and husband Dick of Topeka, Kansas. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild due in April. She was preceded in death by one daughter Beverly Logan and one son Fred Oliver and her mother-in-law Dorothy Leslie. Cremation has been chosen and a private memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Salina 730 Holly Lane Salina, Kansas.
