Mary Lynn Berghuis

Mary Lynn Berghuis, 64, of Salina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Mary was born on October 24, 1961, in Orlando, Florida, to Louise (Bruno) Painter of St. Petersburg, Florida, and the late James Edward Painter.

On December 17, 1979, Mary married the love of her life, John J. Berghuis, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, beginning a lifelong partnership built on devotion and care.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, John; her daughters, Olivia Winston (Cpt. Megan) of Richmond, Virginia, and Mary Madelynn Berghuis of Boston, Massachusetts; and her son, John A. Berghuis (Casey) of Salina.

She is also survived by her mother, Louise Painter; her sisters, Sheila Montante (James) of St. Petersburg, Florida, Kim Chesney (Lamar) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Toni Moninger (John) of Charlotte, North Carolina; and her brothers, James E. Painter, Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina, Michael Painter (Pati) of Winter Garden, Florida, and Keith Painter (Shelly) of Lansdale, Pennsylvania.

Mary was preceded in death by her father.

Honoring her wishes, Mary will be cremated, and private family services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond Animal League, in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home.
