Mary Margaret Koriel Horton, 75, of Salina, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020. She was born on November 14, 1944 in Hays, Kansas to Albert and Josephine (Leggee) Koriel. Mary graduated from FHSU Nursing Program as an RN. She was a psychiatric nurse at Larned State Hospital. Later on in life, she returned to school and got her Masters in Social Work from KU. She then worked until retirement with the Infant/Child Development Services associated with Salina Regional Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, pulling weeds and traveling. Enjoying being the ‘Library Lady’ for daycare children in Salina. Mary was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was an active member of the United Methodist Women’s Group. She also enjoyed working with children, civil and religious groups. Mary married Forrest on February 19, 1982 in Great Bend, Kansas. To this union, two families were combined. Forrest survives of the home. Other survivors include Leslie Barrera and husband, Israel of Wichita, Amy Werth, and husband, Travis of Hays, Alison Rhodeman and husband, Christopher of Warrensburg, Missouri; and brother, John Koriel and wife, JoAnn of Rush Center. She leaves behind 9 grandchildren, Noel, Nicholas, Ariel, Sebastian, Britny, Lakin, Britney, Krystal, Karissa; and 4 great grandchildren; Jacob, Jaxon, Lily, Nicholas. Visitation will be Friday, June 26th from 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, with family present from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 27th at Trinity United Methodist Church, Salina, Kansas with Pastor Lori Persigehl officiating. At the suggestion of the church, masks are strongly encouraged. The service will be streamed online at www.triumc.org/mary-horton. Burial will be at 3:00 pm, Saturday, June 27th, at La Crosse Cemetery, La Crosse, Kansas. Donations may be made to Tammy Walker Cancer Center, Infant Child Development (For the Hearing Impaired) or Trinity United Methodist Church, sent in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio, Salina, Kansas 67401.
