Mary Virginia Gammell, 82, of Lindsborg, Kansas, passed away Monday, September 10th, surrounded by her family. Mary was born in Nickerson, Kansas and is the daughter and only child of the late Dick and Millie Patton. She grew up in McPherson and graduated from McPherson High in 1954 where she was school editor, cheerleader, and co-host of the school’s lunch hour radio broadcast. She also participated in 4H in which her lamb once followed her in the All Schools Parade one year. Mary attended the Lutheran School of Nursing in St. Louis and graduated in 1957. She married James L. Gammell DVM, on June 6, 1958, in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. While Jim completed school in Manhattan, Mary worked at KSU Student Health. They moved to Lindsborg in June of 1962. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Jim; daughters, Kelly Wilson (Niels) of Lindsborg, Kansas, Jennifer Ronning (Jeff) of Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, and Sheri Rosenbaum (John) of Leawood, Kansas. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Kaethe and Julia Wilson; William, Jonathan, Carolyn, Faith, Samuel and Kari Ronning; Anneliese and Jack Rosenbaum. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael J. Ronning. Memorial Service will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 224 S. Main Street, Lindsborg, Kansas, with Pastor Nancy Crowl officiating. Private graveside services will be at Prairie Grove Cemetery in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. Memorials may be made to Angel Arms Home Health, Sprout House Learning Center, or Kindred Hospice sent in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio Street, Salina.
