Minor L. Harris, Jr., 74, of Salina passed away Wednesday, April 4th, at Salina Regional Health Center. Minor was born in Byhalia, Mississippi on May 31, 1937, to Catherine King and the late Minor Lee Harris, Sr. Minor served in the U.S. Air Force, and he was stationed at Schilling Air Force Base. Following his time in the air force, he stayed in Salina and was the owner of Harris Refuse and Harris Trash Recycling. He was a member and past president of the Noon Optimist, and received several accolades from the Salina Chamber of Commerce, and he was a member of the NAACP. Minor was a past member of the Lions club and sat on the board of the Martin Luther King, Jr., Child Care Center. Minor was also an active member of the Living Word International Ministries of Salina. He held a deep desire to make Salina a beautiful place to live. He was the husband of Donna (Lawson) Harris. They shared thirty years of marriage, love, and companionship. Minor is survived by his wife Donna; daughter, Dwana Peoples, of Salina; sons, Leo (Sharon) Harris , of Maryland, and Dwayne (Megan) Peoples, of Salina; brothers, Berkeley (Annette) Harris, Alexander (Frenchie) Harris, Frank King, and John Phillips; sisters, Claudette Bogard, Ethel Higgins, Liza Ingram, Leola King, Delores Lucas, and Opelia King; grandchildren Tasha, Leo Jr., Requitia, Rachel, Michael, Ashlee, Bayleigh, and Hudson; as well as a host of neices, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father and step mother; brother, James Willie Harris; grandson, Rico Harris; and grandaughter, Akia Washington. A funeral service will be held at the Emmanuel Four Square Church, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 14th, with Pastor Stephen Davison officiating. Friends are invited to call Friday 9 am to 8 pm.. with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home.
