Myrtle Ellen McCurnin Myrtle Ellen 'Myrt' McCurnin, 93, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Sunday, December 16th, 2012 Myrtle was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on September 11, 1919, daughter of the late Anna M. (Cook) Thornton and William Victor Wigton. Myrt owned the Newport Grill in Salina for over 20 years and at one point, four generations worked in the restaurant. Survivors include daughter, Patricia A. Miller, of Salina; granddaughter, Kim Fairbanks and husband Stephen, of Salina; grandson, Shawn Miller of St. George, Kansas; great grandchildren, Amanda Norwood and husband Brandon of Salina, Brent Weir of Andover, Kansas and Chelseana Fairbanks of Salina. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 20th at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, with Pastor Geske officiating. Inurnment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Salina Animal Shelter, 329 N. 2nd Salina, Kansas or Hospice of Salina, 730 Holly Lane Salina, Kansas.
