Robert "Bob" Shank, 86, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Saturday, April 28th, 2018. Bob was born in Salina, Kansas on January 11, 1932, a son of the late Millie (Yockers) and Ralph Shank. Bob served in the United States Army 11th Airborne Division. Bob retired from the US Post Office after 32 years, was a farmer, owned and operated Robert "Bob" Shank & Associates Auction Service in New Cambria, and was a real estate broker. He also served as Mayor of New Cambria, Kansas and met his wife, Carolyn while working at Campsite Camper Manufacturing Company. He was a member of the Kansas Real Estate Association, Past President of the Auctioneers Association and was the co-founder of the Silver Spurs Saddle Club. On July 16, 1977, Bob married Carolyn Stice at St. John's Lutheran Church in Salina, Kansas. Survivors include six sons, Dave Shank, of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mark Shank, and wife Lisa, of Redfield, Kansas; Doug Shank, and wife Ann, of Mandeville, Louisiana, Robert Shank Jr., and wife Janet, of Gleason, Wisconsin, Tim Ponting, and wife Elizabeth, of Marquette, Kansas; Jeff Ponting, and wife Kelly, of McPherson, Kansas; daughter, Terri Ponting Boyer, of Salina, Kansas; brother, Bill Shank, and wife Sarah of Nixa, Missouri. Bob is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Shank; and granddaughter, Sara Faison. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 pm, Saturday, May 5th at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina, Kansas, with Chaplain Rick Schrag officiating. Inurnment will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery Salina, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for a memorial bench at Bob and Carolyn’s winter home in Alamo, Texas or to Kindred Hospice in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio, Salina, Kansas 67401.
