Robert L. "Bob" Nelson

Salina, Kansas Robert LeRoy 'Bob' Nelson Robert LeRoy 'Bob' Nelson, 73, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Saturday, March 26th, at St. Francis Select Specialty Hospital, Wichita, Kansas. Bob was born in Salina, Kansas on February 19, 1943, son of the late Ethel (Snook) and Floyd Nelson. He graduated from Solomon High School in 1961 and was a member of the Solomon High School Alumni. Bob was a volunteer fireman for the Solomon Fire Department. He worked for International Milling before going to work for Westinghouse/Philips Lighting. In 1988, Bob went to Holland for 3 months to train for Phillips. He retired after 43 years. Bob loved to remodel. He could do every aspect of the remodel from plumbing, electrical, and woodworking. He was an ace of all trades. Harvest was his favorite time of year. He took time off from Phillips to work for Swenson Farms during harvest time. He was a great father and loved spending time with his family. He was the husband of Sharon (Bassett) Nelson. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Nelson of the home; two sons, Robert L. Nelson II, and Christine Waddle, of Salina, Kansas; Steven F. Nelson, and wife Pam, of Hutchinson, Kansas; brother, Phil Nelson and wife Linda of Salina, Kansas. He is also survived by grandchildren, Samantha, Kristan, and Connor; great-grandchildren; Aleeah and Adilyn as well as many extended family members. Bob is preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Diana Nelson. Cremation has been chosen. The family will receive friends for visitation Friday, April 8, 2016 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home.
