Roy E. Wells

Roy Earl Wells, 81, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, December 25th. Roy was born in La Follette, Tennessee on April 22, 1937, a son of the late Birdie and Joe Wells. Roy met his wife, Mary, of 60 years, in La Follette. The couple moved to Salina in 1958 and Roy began work at the International Milling Company for 10 years. After leaving the mill, he started working at St. John’s Hospital where he worked for 34 years in maintenance and industrial engineering. Roy is remembered for his work ethic, and his ability to fix and repair anything. His joy was working on cars. Roy also had a great love for all animals. Survivors include his wife, Mary; sons, Wayne Wells (Cindy) of Salina; Randy Wells (Michele) of Emporia; grandsons, Eric Wells (Sara) of Lawrence, and Derek Wells of Salina; great grandson, Remy Wells of Lawrence; and brother, Troy Wells (Faye) of Jacksboro, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Birdie Wells; 5 brothers, Everett, R. L., Jim, Floyd, and Alonzo; and 3 sisters, Anna Mae, Ruby, and Grace. Visitation will be Thursday, December 27, from 2:00 to 7:00 PM at Carlson- Geisendorf Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 28th at the funeral home with Pastor Shawn Baird officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Friends of the Salina Animal Shelter, sent in care of the funeral home.
