Ruby F. Seevers

Ruby F. Seevers, 94, of Salina passed away January 15, 2015 at Dignity Care Home. Ruby was born on July 12, 1920 to the late Homer and Oda (Martin) Jarvis in Sorento, Illinois. She attended Greenville High School where she received Valedictorian of her class. She loved to fish with her mom, hunt, and read. She then met her first husband Verel Hall Sr., and they lived in Centralia, Illinois. Ruby and Verel had four kids. When she left Verel, she was seeing Tony Mays and had moved to Salina. Here she had three more kids. While in Salina she worked as a seamstress and was a bar maid at the Bachelors Inn in Salina. While working at the Bachelors Inn she met her third husband Jerry Johnson. They moved to Colorado where she continued her career as a seamstress. Her marriage to Jerry was very short lived. Ruby then met Donny Edwards. They went to Mexico and were married in 1966. Don passed away shortly after. Ruby then met her last husband Murle Seevers, and they stayed in Colorado until divorcing in 1982. Following that Ruby moved to Brookville, Kansas where she worked at the Brookville Hotel for a couple of years. She also sold Avon for many years until she was considered legally blind. Ruby lived with her son Verel Jr. and his wife Barb, at their insistence, until Verel’s passing in 2008. She lived with her grandson for five years after that until she went to live at Dignity care in 2013. Survivors include her daughter in law; Barb Hall; children, Sandy (Jimmy) Tipsword, Brenda (Wayne) McCarty, Tony (Carlotta) Mays, Darlene King, and J.H. Mays; as well as 19 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 32 great great grandchildren. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Verel Hall, Sr., Tony Mays, Jerry Johnson, Don Edwards, and Murle Seevers; sons, Duane and Verel Hall, Jr.; grandson, Michael Hall; great grandson, Joshua Tipsword; and great great grandson, Tristan Pearson. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 19, 2015 at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, with Pastor Loren Forbes officiating. Cremation has been chosen and there will not be visitation.
