Raymond Elgin (School Boy) Dunn, Sr., 84, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021, in Salina, Kansas Raymond was born in College Station, Texas on September 12, 1936, a son of the late Aubrey Jackson. Raymond used his life and gifts to serve the Lord in ministry. Early in his church ministry, Pastor Dunn served as a youth leader in the Southern California First Jurisdiction. In 1971, he started his own church in San Pedro, California called Open Door Church of God in Christ. Him and his late wife, Catherine, faithfully served together in ministry in California, Washington, Texas and Kansas. His final assignment was at Loyd Memorial C.O.G.I.C. here in Salina, Kansas where he was the pastor for 22 years and also served as the assistant superintendent for the G.E. Patterson District in the Kansas Southwest Jurisdiction. Pastor Dunn had a passion for people and it was displayed in his everyday life. Every person he met he treated as one of his own. He was an encourager to all, and displayed compassion to God's children. Pastor Dunn believed and lived in the power of prayer. He loved to travel and be with his family. Pastor Dunn was kind, joyful, wise and had an infectious smile. He also served in the United States Marines, where he was honorably discharged January 10, 1962. Raymond was united in marriage to Catherine Long, March 7, 1964 who preceded him in death, December 28, 2006. To this union, they were blessed with five children, two of which preceded him in death as infants. He later married Lillie Smith who served alongside him in ministry. Raymond is survived by his wife Lillie Dunn; a daughter, Vesa Cunningham and husband Robert of Salina, KS, son Raymond Dunn, Jr of Salina, KS and Jamal Dunn, Sr of California. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Christina Cook (Taylor) of Salina, Kansas, Jamal Dunn Jr., of St. Louis, Missouri, Kamden Dunn of Phoenix, Arizona, Joshua Cunningham, of Salina, Kansas, Mykayla Cunningham, of Salina, Kansas; 2 Great Grandchildren, Tiana Cook and Calani Cook, both of Salina Kansas Visitation will be held 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 31st at Carlson - Geisendorf Funeral Home & Crematory in Salina, Kansas. Homegoing Celebration will be held 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 1st at St. John's Missionary Baptist Church in Salina, Kansas with Bishop Mark L. Gilkey officiating. Burial will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery Salina, Kansas. Memorial contributions can be made to Loyd Memorial Church of God in Christ, P.O.
