Sherry Denton, 75, of Salina, died Wednesday, September 26th, 2018 at home, after an illness. She was born in Abilene, Texas on September 15, 1943, a daughter of the late Lois Lucille (Loeffler) and Lorrin Arthur "Torch" Fink. She worked as a Registered Pharmacist for 50 years. Her most recent pharmacy position was at Salina Regional Health Center. She was a member of the American College of Apothecaries and was a member of the Kansas Pharmacists Association where she was elected President in 2002, and awarded Pharmacist of the Year in 2005. She was also the second recipient of the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy's Distinguished Service Award, which is presented for selfless and sustained professional service and leadership. Sherry was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation and was a licensed Lay Reader for the Diocese of Western Kansas. She served on the National Executive Council of the Episcopal Church, was President of Province 7 of the Episcopal Church, and was Deputy to General Convention. She also served on the Commission of Ministry, the Diocese Standing Committee, and was the Diocese Secretary for 10 years. She also served as a past board member of St. Francis Community Services. Sherry married A. Jeffrey Denton on July 9, 1966 in Manhattan, Kansas. He survives of the home. Other survivors include daughters, Callie Jill Denton of Topeka, and Amelia K. Denton-DeVore of Ocala, Florida; sister, Janet Converse (Curtis), of Colorado Springs, Colorado; cousin, Jim Fink (Glenda) of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas; and grandchildren, Iris, Charles, and Emmett Denton-DeVore. She is preceded in death by her sister, Rebecca "Beccy" Dearborn. Memorial Service will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the Episcopal Christ Cathedral Church, 138 S. 8th Street, Salina. Private interment will be at Denton Cemetery in Denton, Kansas at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation or Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration of Vail, Colorado, sent in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio Street, Salina.
