Terral 'Terry' Blodgett, 71, of Salina, left this world Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017 in search of a better walleye fishing hole in heaven. Terry was born June 2, 1946 at St. John's Hospital, Salina, where he later worked. He took great pride in taking care of the aging building and was friends with many of the nuns who were still living on the grounds. He later made the transition to the Asbury Campus of Salina Regional Health Center when the two campuses merged. Many employees remember that you can't put tape on Terry's walls. When younger, he was active in the men's fast pitch softball league, pitching for many years. He also loved to fish. He and his wife of 35 years, Deb, took many vacations just to fish, traveling as far as Canada and South Dakota, but the best fishing was usually right here in Kansas. He loved his motorcycles, joining the R.O.M.E.O. (Retired Old Men Eating Out) Riders on many of their monthly lunch rides. He and his wife enjoyed shooting sporting clays at Gypsum Valley Sporting Clays. The highlight was finishing fourth in the main event in 2003. Transitioning to shooting silhouettes, he had a range in the backyard where he and others would engage in friendly competition. After overcoming cancer in 2006, he retired and became a 'house husband’, allowing his wife, Deb, to attend and graduate with her BSN from nursing school. He never complained about the long hours or the crazy schedules, always making sure there was a hot meal and clean scrubs. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in June and put up a short but intense fight. He passed peacefully at home with his wife and Hospice present. He is survived by: his wife, Deb; sisters, Connie Capistrant (Joseph), and Julia Quinzer; aunts; cousins; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his mother, Eunice and father, Duane; stepfather, Ron; brothers, Alan and Max; and sister Cindy. There are many 'fur babies' who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge and are anxiously awaiting his arrival. Cremation was chosen. Services will be held at a later date, with inurnment in Brookville Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Salina Animal Shelter.
