Salina, Kansas Thomas Harry Likes Thomas Harry 'Tom' Likes, 87, of Salina, passed away Sunday, August 24th, at Holiday Resort. Tom was born in Emporia, Kansas on October 10, 1926, a son of the late Lula Henrietta (Brown) and George Thomas Likes. He worked as a rodeo cowboy, a plumber/pipe fitter, and stockman. He was the husband of Esther (Lehnherr) Likes. They were married October 15, 1944 in Emporia, Kansas. Tom is survived by his wife Esther; sons Thomas D.(Terry) Likes, of Topeka, Kansas; George Alan, (Debbie) Likes, of El Dorado, Kansas; daughter, Luanne E., (John) Smith, of Brookville, Kansas; sisters, Darlene (Jim) Barr, of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, and Marilyn (Leland) Dreyer, of Burlingame, Kansas; granddaughters, Staci Biskie, of Hays, Kansas, Melissa (Brad) Lewis, of Maize, Kansas; Hayley Cherveny, of Prairie Village, Kansas, Stacy, (John) Polzar, of Topeka, Kansas, and Karody, (Brett) Robbins, of Brookville, Kansas; grandsons, T.J. Likes, of Austin, Texas, Grady (Kelly) Likes, of Marysville, Indiana, and Kirby (Joni) Smith, of Goessel, Kansas; as well as 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Berneice Kelley; infant twin brothers; and granddaughter, Mandy Jo Likes. Tom enjoyed competing in bareback horse and bull riding. He was a gold card member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). He worked for many years as a plumber and pipe fitter for City Plumbing, and on many industrial cites such as NRC in McPherson and the Marysville power plant. He was a member of Plumbers and Pipe fitters Union #441 Wichita. Later in life Tom was able to pursue a career as a stockman and horseman. He took an active role and enjoyed seeing his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren persue rodeo interests in his footsteps. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 27, from 9 am - 8 p.m.. at Carlson - Geisendorf Funeral Home. Family will greet friends from 6-8. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28th, at the Brookville United Methodist Church, with Pastor Lori Persigehl officiating. Interment will follow at Brookville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Kansas Foundation, 1805 S. Ohio St., Salina, Kansas 67401.
