Thomas William “Tom” Miller, 77, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, December 14th, 2022.


Tom was born in Salina, Kansas on September 4, 1945, to the late Inez (DeMars) Miller and L. W. “Bill” Miller.


Tom graduated from Salina High School in 1963 and KTI in 1975. He served 4 years in the United States Navy including sea duty on the carriers USS Hornet and USS Hancock. During his time on the Hornet, he participated in the recovery of the Apollo 11 and 12 lunar modules.


Tom married Nan Luce on July 28, 1973, in Salina, Kansas in a whirlwind courtship that was ‘meant to be’ and lasted nearly 50 years. They raised two sons and the family eventually grew to include two special daughters-in-law and grandchildren. Tom was a special “Papa” to his grandchildren.


Diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma in 2012, Tom fought valiantly and without complaint every step of his journey. Our hearts are broken at his loss.


As owner of Tom Miller Painting and Papering for over 40 years, Tom was well-known for his work ethic and the quality of his work in many clinics, banks, and hospitals in the area.


"Tommy" to his Elks and golfing friends, was known for his good humor and easygoing nature. He was a long-time member of the Salina Elks Lodge. He loved golfing, KU, the Chiefs, and the Royals.


Survivors include his wife, Nan, of the home; two sons, Ross Miller (Megan), of Salina, Kansas, Drew Miller (Whitney Gebhart-Miller), of Loveland, Colorado; and 7 grandchildren, Maci, Madison, Caden, Jackson, Kyle, Lily, and Kane.


Tom is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Richard "Dick" Miller (Sharalena), of Nashville, Tennessee.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 21st at Carlson - Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina.
