Vera Mae Whelchel Vera Mae Whelchel, 93, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013. Vera was born in Longford, Kansas on January 2, 1920, daughter of the late Edna Mae (Snowden) and Ben Cain. Survivors include daughter, Charlotte Morton of Salina; brother, Donald Cain of Salina; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Vera is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin D. Whelchel; daughter, Virginia; son, Donald; brothers, Donald, Harold, Bernard, Bob; sister, Grace; great granddaughter, Megan Morton. There will be no services as cremation has taken place.
